Education Needs Assessment

Indiana's Asian Education Needs and Interests

Early in 2009, the Asian Learning Center of Indiana sent out a needs assessment survey to more than 2,500 educators and professionals from Indiana's K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and some other organizations.

The purpose of the survey is to:

  • Identify the percentage of the schools that are currently providing Asian studies, Asian language learning, and other Asian culture related activities;
  • Identify barriers to conducting Asian studies, Asian language learning, and Asian culture related activities in schools;
  • Identify schools' interest/willingness to participate if resources and tools are available; and
  • Collect other related information, suggestions, and concerns from schools regarding Asian Studies, Asian language learning, and other Asian culture and related activities.

The survey results indicate a strong need for Asian education resources.
